With Wall Street reading into the "gold clause" resolution implications which did not, upon its face, appear to be warranted, the markets surged upward yesterday with renewed vigor. Trading on the Stock Exchange made up a total of 4,311,000 shares, a figure that has been exceeded on only one Saturday in the history of the Exchange.
